Bible Readings for Weddings
Usually four Bible readings at a Catholic wedding ceremony:
- A portion from the Old Testament
- A responsorial Psalm (which may be read, or sung)
- A portion from the New Testament epistles
- A portion from the Gospels
The readings given below are those suggested in the Lectionary, for weddings. They are not an exclusive list, so if the couple desires it, other Biblical readings of similar length may be used, by agreement with your priest.
Since your Bible readings set the mood and tone for your wedding vows, have your readers well prepared, so that the reading is done well.Give them the text in good time, and in clear type. If you want to have a non-biblical meditation read after the Holy communion, it is well to select that piece in consultation with your celebrant.
