In preparing for the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church, each couple is required to attend
an actual pre-marriage course.
No Irish diocese
approves any online/ DVD course as fulfilling the couple's requirement for serious marriage preparation (Diocesan Views, below). All 26 Catholic dioceses were unanimous on this point. So, to the question whether online Pre-Marriage Courses have official church approval in Ireland,
the simple answer is no. That's the reason why our Together course is not offered as an online course, even though we post so much material online.
Your course certificate should indicate when and where you did your course, and who directed it. If in any doubt, ask your parish or
the Irish episcopal secretariate.
